DYOR

One thing you’ll see over and over when reading about Crypto and searching for new coins is DYOR. At first I thought people were being rude and smartassy and have learned over time why people say it and that it's not being rude.

First off I guess giving out financial advice is totally illegal and can land you in the slammer hiding a flashlight in the prison pocket or sued. Unless you are a certified financial advisor then no jail. DYOR makes sense when you think about it. You should never trust someone on the internet when $ is involved. Reading posts or tweets about new coins is one of the most important parts of DYOR for me but those posts themselves are sorta like clues on where to look.

If something seems too good to be true it likely is.

DYOR Key 1: Visit projects website. If there is no website I pass on it. 99 percent of the no website projects end in a train of sadness. I ask myself does the website look professional or quickly thrown together? Is there anything unique about this coin

DYOR key 2: Find the whitepaper and open it up. Does it look like a quickly thrown together PowerPoint or does it go into the details of the project.

DYOR Key 2: Look for social media links on website. Look at their Twitter. Sort by Tweets and Replies. When was the last Tweet? What is the volume of Tweets sent out? Do they interact with community at all? Are they friendly or stuck up towards community?

DYOR Key 3: Checking coin metrics. Go to coingecko or coinmarketcap and search for the project your researching. Change the chart to all time to get idea of how coin historically has done. If the coin is at an ATH and I really like it I will buy a little bit and put in a limit order for a price I think it'll dip to . Look for Market cap as well.

DYOR Key 4: Visit the telegram. How often to admins post? How big is the community? Is there a few people spreading FUD over something like the price being less than they paid for it and how they lost thousands of dollars. If you felt good about all the other parts of research and the devs are active than just ignore these people. If you were not impressed and there’s admins or large # of people FUDing either buy none or a 1/4th of your original budget and buy more over time during dips.
